Bancroft OPP investigate another theft from a vehicle



On the morning of Tuesday the 14th of April 2009 the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received the report of a theft from a vehicle parked on Hastings Street North in the Town of Bancroft.  

Investigation revealed that on Monday the 13th of April 2009 between 6:30pm and 7:30pm an unknown suspect entered a Jeep and stole cash from a purse.


 The Bancroft OPP is encouraging anyone with information about this theft and attempt break and enter to contact the Bancroft OPP at 613-332-2112 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477.

 The Bancroft OPP encourage the public to contact police should they observe any persons or vehicles that appear suspicious.


 (Bancroft, ON.)  Throughout the months of March and April of this year, several thefts have been reported from motor vehicles in the Bancroft area.  The Bancroft OPP would like to remind Bancroft area residents to protect their vehicles from theft.  A professional can steal a vehicle in less that 30 seconds and an unlocked vehicle or open window is an easy target.  You can protect your vehicle from theft by following a few simple precautions:


  • Always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key.
  • If you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle.
  • Always park your vehicle in well-lit areas.
  • Keep your vehicle registration certificate and proof of insurance on you at all times.
  • Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.
  • Never leave valuable objects or packages in full view.
  • Never leave your car keys in plain view or in an easily accessible area.
