CHARGES LAID IN WOLLASTON TOWNSHIP INCIDENT
(Bancroft, ON.) On the morning of Monday the 15th of June 2009 an Officer from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was patrolling Lawrence Lane in the Township of Wollaston.
The Officer observed two males at a cottage and they ran toward the water to a paddle boat. The males then returned to speak with the Officer.
Following an investigation, the Officer placed both males under arrest for break and enter. While the Officer was placing one of the males in the cruiser, the other ran from the scene. The male young person that was in custody was transported to the Bancroft OPP detachment.

The OPP Canine unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the location to search for the adult male that escaped custody. The OPP initiated a RIDE program at the intersection of County Road 620 and Salem Road in Wollaston Township in the early evening.
At the RIDE Officers observed the adult male in a vehicle, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Bancroft OPP detachment.
A 17 year old male young person of Peterborough, Ontario has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, possession of stolen property, obstruct justice and possession of a weapon while prohibited, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has also been charged with 3 counts of fail to comply with probation order, contrary to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
A 19 year old adult male of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Township has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house, escape lawful custody, possession of stolen property (2 counts) and breach of probation (4 counts), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
Both males were held in custody and attended a show cause hearing in Belleville on Tuesday the 16th of June.
