Bancroft OPP busy with thefts, car crashes over the weekend

Drunk Driving charge laid on Highway 62

HASTINGS HIGLANDS — On the evening of Friday the 17th of July 2009 Officers from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check at the intersection of Highway 127 and Highway 62 in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.opp-logo

The female driver of a Toyota SUV approached the RIDE and when an Officer spoke with her, the odour of alcoholic beverage was detected.  The female failed a roadside screening test, was arrested and transported to the Bancroft OPP detachment for intoxilyzer test.  55 year old Nancy Capstick of Lake St Peter, Ontario has been charged with operate a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.  She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on the 15th of September 2009.

Two-car crash injured passenger

BANCROFT — In the early evening of Saturday the 18th of July 2009 the Bancroft OPP responded to the report of a two vehicle collision on Monck Street in the Town of Bancroft.

Investigation revealed that a Pontiac car was travelling northbound on Monck Street, slowing down to turn left onto Monck Road.  A Chrysler car that was travelling behind the Pontiac struck it from behind.

The 32 year old driver of the Chrysler from Etobicoke, Ontario did not sustain any injuries, but the passenger, a 15 year old male of Maynooth, Ontario attended Quinte Healthcare on his own with injuries.  The driver of the Pontiac, a 20 year old male of the Havelock area did not sustain any injuries but the passenger, a 20 year old female of Havelock, was transported to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings with injuries.

Ryan Hayward of Etobicoke, Ontario was charged with follow too closely contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Alcohol and video games taken during house break-in

HASTINGS HIGHLANDS — On the evening of Saturday the 18th of July 2009 the Bancroft OPP received the report of a break, enter and theft to a residence on Harriets Point Road in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.

Sometime between July 01st and July 18th unknown suspects forcibly entered the residence and property reported stolen include alcohol and gaming systems.

More alcohol taken in another break-in, along with DVDs and CD player

HIGLANDS EAST — On the evening of Saturday July 18th 2009 the Bancroft OPP responded to the report of a break, enter and theft to a residence on Geneva Trail in the Municipality of Highlands East.

Sometime between July 12th and July 18th unknown suspects forcibly entered the residence and property reported stolen include alcohol, DVD’s and a CD player.

Cell phone, cash and wallet taken from an unlocked vehicles

BANCROFT — On the 19th of July 2009 the Bancroft OPP received the report of a theft from a vehicle on Hastings Street South in the Town of Bancroft.

Sometime overnight unknown suspects stole a cell phone and cash from an unlocked vehicle.

And on the 20th of July 2009 the Bancroft OPP received the report of a theft from a vehicle on Hastings Street South in the Town of Bancroft.  Unknown suspects stole a wallet from an unlocked vehicle.

Arctic Cat ATV stolen in Bancroft

BANCROFT — In the early morning of Monday the 20th of July 2009 Officers from the Bancroft OPP were dispatched to the report of a stolen vehicle on Phoebe Street in the Town of Bancroft.

Unknown suspects stole and Arctic Cat ATV from a barn at the location.
