OPP out with warning to ATV riders about trespassing

(Peterborough County, ON) – Peterborough County OPP would like to remind all ATV Riders that not all trails are on public land.opp-logo

Many trails are on private property.

If you are operating an ATV on public land, especially trails used by snowmachines and you come to a gate or sign that reads:

  • No Trespassing
  • Private Property
  • No ATV’s

STOP, Do Not Proceed, the public trail has ended.

You will be trespassing on private property and subject to the Trespass to Property Act.

It is your responsibility to know where you are at all times!

ATV’s are not allowed on the majority of roads in Peterborough County.

Drinking and driving laws apply to all Off Road Vehicles.
