Work moving along nicely to rebuild the Coe Hill skating rink

Sub-contractors Ron and Richard Earle were busy July 30, 2009, leveling the base for the new Coe Hill skating rink. Wollaston township received $79,133 in federal and provincial grants to pay for the work, which will include a soft-sided, barn-like cover for the outdoor rink. Photo by Brent Goodwin.

i find it quite interesting that ron earle gets all the township jobs and he’s on council. isn’t that a little something called conflict of interest?? maybe it’s just me but he is definaltly taking away business from other people trying to make a living in our area….and by the way why a roof should have got a zamboni because the roof isn’t going to help the quality of the ice at all. it’s still going to be the worst surface in CANADA! if one shall ask i have traveled for Vancouver to St. John’s and played on every rink i could find but coe hill’s id defiatley the worst. just some things to think about.

I agree that Ron Earle should not get the jobs. It is a conflict and I would like to see the minutes with the conflict of interest sheets attached. Its kinda wierd.
As far as the ice is concerned … all the work has been done by ppl on workfare and volunteers. Why does the council not hire someone RESPONSIBLE to keep an eye over the whole operation. Instead of just any tom dick and harry to do it.
If the ice isnt to your satisfaction stay off it! or go back to vancouver to skate. Its a small town with something for the kids to do and I dont hear any of them complaining. They all seem to really enjoy it

Anonymous? Sounds like barking dogs safe behind a fence. Anyone who doesn’t have the fortitude to attach their name to their opinions isn’t worth listening to.
