Hwy 62 runs between Maynooth and Bloomfield.

COE HILL — Highway 62 east of here is already getting votes in province-wide “worst roads” competition.

The Canadian Automobile Association and the Ontario Road Builders Association sponsor the on-line poll of drivers.  This is the seventh year organizers say they’re lobbying governments to fix lousy roads, before people are hurt or vehicles damanged.

Of the top-20 roads picked across Ontario in 2008, the CAA says almost 90 per cent are repaired or are int the process of being repaired.

The seventh worst roads poll launched Wednesday. Last year, Hwy 62 topped voting in the Hastings County section. It looks well on its way to repeating this year.

The provincial transportation ministry says it plans to rebuild Hwy 62, from the Coe Hill turn onto old Hwy 62o, south for 17.3 kilometres toward Madoc.
