Assault, vehicle crashes and theft keeps Bancroft OPP busy

CHARGE LAID IN ASSAULT INCIDENT

BANCROFT — In the early morning of Saturday the 15th of August 2009 Officers from the Bancroft OPP were waved down by a female on Station Street in the Town of Bancroft.

opp-logoInvestigation revealed that the adult female was physically assaulted by an adult male in a vehicle parked nearby. As a result of the investigation, a 60 year old male of the Municipality of Hastings Highlands, Ontario was arrested and charged with assault, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The male was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on September 15th, 2009. The female sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

BANCROFT OPP RESPOND TO MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS

BANCROFT — On the morning of Friday the 14th of August 2009 Officers from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of Hastings Street and Bridge Street in the Town of Bancroft.

Investigation revealed that a Chevrolet car was travelling south on Hastings Street North and proceeded to turn left onto Bridge Street East. The vehicle struck a pedestrian that was crossing at the intersection.

The 3 year old female pedestrian of Bancroft, Ontario was transported to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings by a parent with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, 55 year old Diane Rawding of Bancroft, Ontario has been charged with fail to yield to a pedestrian, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

HASTINGS HIGHLANDS — On Friday the 14th of August 2009, Officers from the Bancroft OPP were dispatched to the report of a two vehicle collision on South Baptiste lake Road in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.

Investigation revealed that a Mazda van was travelling westbound on South Baptiste Lake Road, when it crossed the centre line. A Toyota car that was travelling eastbound on South Baptiste Lake Road pulled to the right to avoid the oncoming van and struck a guide post.

The driver of the Toyota, a 47 year old male of Toronto, Ontario did not sustain any injuries. The driver of the Mazda, 39 year old Judit Nagy of Hamilton, Ontario has been charged with fail to share roadway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

HASTINGS HIGHLANDS — On Saturday the 15th of August 2009 the Bancroft OPP received the report of a motorcycle collision at the intersection of Peterson Road and Highway 62 in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.

Investigation revealed that a motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Peterson Road, approaching Highway 62. The motorcycle failed to stop at the stop sign and travelled across Highway 62, entering the ditch. The driver of the motorcycle, 21 year old Brandon Johnson of Woodbridge, Ontario did not sustain any injuries. Mr. Johnson has been charged with disobey a stop sign, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

BANCROFT — In the early morning of Sunday the 16th of August 2009, Officers from the Bancroft OPP received the report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 62 South in the Town of Bancroft.

Officers arrived at the scene and located a GMC SUV with severe damage. The male driver was transported to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings by ambulance.

The driver of the GMC, 18 year old Brandon Pitre of Hamilton, Ontario has been charged with careless driving and class G2 licence holder B.A.C. (blood alcohol concentration) above zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

VEHICLE STOP RESULTS IN CHARGES

FARADAY TWP –– In the early morning of Saturday the 15th of August 2009, Officers from the Bancroft OPP stopped a Ford van on Highway 28 South in Faraday Township.

As a result of the stop, Officers located alcohol and a quantity of marihuana in the vehicle. The driver, a 19 year old male of Scarborough, Ontario had been charged with drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 16 year old male young person of Toronto, Ontario was charged with possession of a controlled substance, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

The male young person is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on the 15th of October 2009.

MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AND OVER .80

BANCFOFT — In the late evening of Sunday the 16th of August 2009, Officers from the Bancroft OPP received the report of a Dodge truck parked at the end of a driveway on Bronson Road in the Town of Bancroft.

Officers attended the location and located a male in the truck who was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.

The male was transported to the Bancroft OPP detachment for an intoxilyzer test. 22 year old Ryan Rallison of Carlow-Mayo Township, Ontario has been charged with operate a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, impaired operation and drive disqualified, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Mr. Rallison was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on the 20th of October 2009.

THEFT OF BOAT MOTOR

TUDOR-CASHEL TWP — On the 14th of August 2009, the Bancroft OPP received the report of theft of a boat motor and gas can on Weslemkoon Lake Road in Tudor-Cashel Township.

Sometime overnight unknown suspects stole an outboard motor and gas tank. Anyone with information about this theft is encouraged to contact the Bancroft OPP at 613-332-2112 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477.
