COE HILL – The Canadian Forces Skyhawks Parachute Team is booked to be part of the Sun., Sept. 4, 2011 Warriors Day events in Coe Hill, Ontario.
Organizer John Irwin says a flypast by Canadian Forces Hercules transport plane, and an historic Harvard trainer, are also booked for the first time – depending on good weather.
The airshow portion of the weekend-long events starts about 12:30 p.m. with a streamer drop, and jumpers in the air at 1 p.m.
Also before the official parade and memorial ceremony on Sunday, a ribbon cutting is planned to mark completion of renovations at the Coe Hill branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Dignitaries are expected to gather at 2:15 for the grand opening.
The $76,400 project include revamping the upstairs hall, adding a backup generator and a wheelchair lift.
Warriors Day weekend starts on Sept. 3, 2011 with displays of antique and current military vehicles at the Coe Hill fairgrounds on Wollaston Township Road 620, formerly Highway 620.
