BANCROFT – During the week of January 02nd – January 08th 2012, the Bancroft OPP responded to seven car/deer collisions in the Bancroft detachment area. The collisions occurred on South Baptiste Lake Road in Hastings Highlands, Highway 118 in Highlands East, Highway 62 in Limerick Township, Highway 28 in Highlands East and Highway 28 in the Town of Bancroft. Sokhon Kim and Channy Kim each pleaded guilty to possessing more than their legal limit of bass and were each fined $1,500. PETERBOROUGH – Over a period of about three months, 30-year-old Scott King forged 25 personal cheques as he stole more than $21,000 from a Coe Hill physician and his wife, The Peterborough Examiner reports. BANCROFT – A second Tim Hortons restaurant opened Oct. 20, 2011 in Bancroft. The new outlet is along Highway 28 South, near the Bancroft hospital and the Ontario Provincial Police station. It includes a Cold Stone Creamery, serving ice cream and frozen treats. Bancroft’s other Tim Hortons, on Hastings Street North, has the same owner and regularly helps local charities like Highlands Animal Rescue Team – HART.
