Private Charles Nelson Kelsh was born in Coe Hill, died in First World War in France

  Private Charles Nelson Kelsh born in Coe Hill, died Aug. 25, 1918 during the First World War in France. He was 23 and a member of the 21st Bn., Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment).  He was the son of Private Charles Nelson Kelsh born in Coe Hill, according information posted at the Canadian Great War project. Kelsh was buried at Dainville British Cemetery in France.

Brent Goodwin passed along this report from Coe Hill Public school: Monday, February 9 was an afternoon of celebration for the staff and students at Coe Hill School.  An assembly was held to recognize 11 students for their outstanding contributions and demonstrations of January’s character trait “responsibility”.  Winners received a certificate and medallion from their teacher and vice principal Kim Ried. February’s character trait is “humour.” Harold Nash of Coe Hill Legion Branch 581 was also on hand to provide letters of congratulations to Jessica, Shyanne, Tori, and Brooke for their success in the Legion’s...

    Harold Nash, president of the Coe Hill branch 581 of the Royal Canadian Legion presented four Coe Hill public school students with letters of congratulations for their entries in the 2008 Remembrance Day student poster contest. Jessica Wilkins was first in the black and white poster category. Shyanne Swartzman won special mention for her colour poster.  Tori Wilkins’ poster place first in the colour poster category.  Brook Medve was third with her colour poster.
