BRIGHTON — Clarence Whitmore remembered tough times growing up on a farm in Coe Hill, as he celebrated his 99th birthday July 24, 2011, the Northumberland News reports. Whitmore moved into the Applefest Lodge in Brighton eight years ago. COE HILL – Colin Masters of Coe Hill has won $7.8 million in the Lotto 6/49, the Peterborough Examiner reports. COE HILL – Work looks pretty well done on a $20,000 “village square” in front of the Coe Hill post office. The space for sitting and talking is beside parking, which didn’t sit well with the townships revitalization committee.  After council changed original plans to replace parking with pedestrian areas only, to a mix of the two, the committee voted against the changes. COE HILL – A customer appreciation day is planned July 23, 2011 at the Coe Hill Community Thrift Shop. All items in the store will be half price, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The thrift shop is beside the Wollaston Community Centre and Coe Hill Public School. COE HILL – The annual Wollaston Township open house was well attended Sat., July 16, 2011 at the Coe Hill fairgrounds. Hundreds of hot dogs were barbecued outside, kids jumped on a bouncy castle and clambered up a portable climbing wall on the sunny, hot afternoon. Inside the fair building, community agencies and township officials offered information to ratepayers.
