PEMBROKE, ON – The Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) is one of 13 Regional Tourism Organizations created by the Ontario government to carry out initiatives that increase tourism to Ontario. We were able to raise just over $5,100 last year for the fire department, and would love to surpass that mark this year. Ontario Provincial Police press release PETERBOROUGH COUNTY– Officers from Peterborough County Detachment and members of the Smith-Ennismore Fire Department are reminding everyone yet again that no ice can be considered 100% safe for travel by any motorized recreational vehicle, automobile or truck at this time of year. COE HILL – Santa Claus is coming to town Dec. 17, 2011. The annual Coe Hill Santa Claus Parade is set to start at 12:30 p.m. and head through town. COE HILL – Darlene Armitage has hung up her oven  mitts. Sat., Oct. 8, 2011 at 4 p.m., she officially closed her bakery in Coe Hill.  She took her sign down and sat down to relax under the shade of a tree. Locals and cottagers alike are going to miss her mouth-watering pies and baking Armitage reduced her hours this summer and fall to Friday and Saturdays only, after years of baking daily.  Now, it’s time to officially retire her pie pans, she says. Ontario Provincial Police press release COE HILL – On Saturday the 10th of September 2011, the Bancroft OPP was dispatched to a break and enter on the Ridge Road in Wollaston Township. Sometime between the 05th and 10th of September 2011 a cottage and boathouse was forcibly entered. A generator and fishing equipment has been reported stolen.
