BANCROFT – A memorial “celebration of life” service is planned Mon., Jan. 23, 2012 for the former owner of Ashlie’s Books in Bancroft Brian Cofell, who lived at Limerick Lake, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012. The Bancroft community is invited to celebrate his life at the 580 Club, at 168 Hastings St. N. (beside the Millennium Park) It begins at 7 p.m. There will be light refreshments.

COE HILL – The Bickles have cooked up $6,504 in cash for the Coe Hill legion – with more meals to come So far this year, Sheila, along with Jack and Nicole Bickle have served up the food in the legion hall. “Shiela is the main organizer and driving force behind the dinner events that are put on by the legion each month,” said Robert Woodley, who helps out at the dinners. COE HILL – Last week’s free community Thanksgiving Dinner in the Wollaston Township Community Centre had a big turnout. Bancroft This Week reports 14 turkeys, 40 pounds of ham and 100 pounds of potatoes were served up in the hall, and delivered to 15 people at home on Oct. 7, 2011. The idea started with John Crawford, a member of the congregation of the pastoral charge of St. Ola, The Ridge and St. Andrew’s United Church.
