Submitted by Robert Woodley COE HILL — Following a summer of delays, disappointments and lift equipment malfunctions the new lift at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 581 in Coe Hill has finally passed various tests and inspections was deemed ready for use. At the regular legion monthly meal on Sun., Jan 29th the lift was put into service for the first time. Nancy Campbell-Hubbard attended the dinner and required the use of the lift to easily enter the hall. COE HILL – There’s lots of regular programs underway this winter at the  Coe Hill Legion. - Monday and Thursday mornings there is an exercise class sponsored by the Community Care North Hastings. BANCROFT – A memorial “celebration of life” service is planned Mon., Jan. 23, 2012 for the former owner of Ashlie’s Books in Bancroft Brian Cofell, who lived at Limerick Lake, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012. The Bancroft community is invited to celebrate his life at the 580 Club, at 168 Hastings St. N. (beside the Millennium Park) It begins at 7 p.m. There will be light refreshments.

BANCROFT – During the week of January 02nd – January 08th 2012, the Bancroft OPP responded to seven car/deer collisions in the Bancroft detachment area. The collisions occurred on South Baptiste Lake Road in Hastings Highlands, Highway 118 in Highlands East, Highway 62 in Limerick Township, Highway 28 in Highlands East and Highway 28 in the Town of Bancroft.
