COE HILL – The first hunt of the new elk population is underway across the Bancroft district. There are 70 hunters with licences to take one of the elk that were re-introduced to the area a decade ago.  The hunt runs Sept. 19 through Sept 25, 2011. Two crashes near Bancroft seriously injure three people

BANCROFT– At approximately 8:10 a.m. on Thursday the 15th of September 2011, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and ambulance services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Kennedy Road in Carlow-Mayo Township. Investigation revealed that a Dodge mini-van was travelling east on Kennedy Road when it entered the ditch, struck a tree and rolled. The driver was ejected and trapped under the van. The male driver, 44 year old Robert Carter of Carlow-Mayo Township was transported to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings with major injuries. Mr. Carter was later air lifted...
