BANCROFT — On the 1st of July 2011, the Bancroft OPP received the report of a break and enter to a seasonal residence on Papineau Lake Road in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands. Sometime since the 19th of June unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered the cottage. No property has been reported stolen.

Truman Sovie was found guilty of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, a violation under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. He is prohibited from possessing, applying for, or obtaining a hunting licence in Ontario for one year, and a deer and his rifle were permanently forfeited to the Crown.
