Watch for one-day closure of St. Ola Road Dec. 8

LIMERICK – St. Ola Road will close for construction on Oct. 8 and re-open to traffic Dec. 9. A township advertisement in the Dec. 3 edition of the Bancroft Times also notes “alternate routes will be established which will cause some delays in travel.” Jason Post is the Limerick Township road superintendent.  Call him on 613-474-0060.

Work to rebuild Hwy 62 near Coe Hill pinching traffic

LIMERICK TWP – Traffic delays should be expected along Highway 62 south of old Highway 620, as the first phase of construction gears up. The Ministry of Transportation hired Aecon Construction in September to rebuilt the bumpy, two-lane highway from 620 south for 17.3 kilometres to near Cleveland Road.  The $13.2 million project includes replacing the Beaver Creek Bridge. Local faces take stage in Snow Queen play in Bancroft

COE HILL – Actor Mary Burbidge of Coe Hill will be on stage tonight in the latest production of November Theatre in at the Bancroft Village Playhouse. There’s other local faces involved in The Snow Queen, too. Lighting designer Lyne Hyde and mask maker Shiela Ottonen-Leuschner are both from Coe Hill. Composer and music director Howard Baer is from Gilmour, as is actor Julia McKinnon. The play runs November 19 to 22 and 26 to 29, 2009. LIMERICK TOWNSHIP – Provincial police have been looking in ditches and swamps alongside Highway 62 this week, apparently looking for a weapon in the a Sept. 19, 2009 murder north of Bandcroft. Two men were arrested in Quebec a few days later. They have been charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of 26-year-old single mother Steffany Natasha Gardiner. HASTINGS COUNTY — Provincial highway officials are advertising for bidders to rebuild bumpy Hwy 62, south from the 620 turnoff to Coe Hill to past the Beaver Creek Bridge. ORMSBY — Heavily armed police officers searched dense bush near here today looking for two armed men. A provincial police officer in the area said officers were looking for two men in relation to drugs and guns.  A woman was arrested earlier in the day Wed., Aug. 19, concerning the incident.
