Source: OPP press releases STIRLING– Members of the Quinte Region Traffic Coalition (QRTC) gathered at the Stirling-Rawdon Police Service on May 12 to launch a distracted driving enforcement campaign set to run from May 16 – 23. Throughout the week long campaign, officers will be concentrating on a very common, but costly offence, driving while using a hand-held cell phone. Officers will have zero tolerance for those found talking on their cell phone while driving. This latest QRTC initiative coincides with Canada Road Safety Week.

Source: Bancroft OPP press release BANCROFT – On the 5th of May 2011, the Bancroft OPP received the report of a phone fraud. Investigation revealed that the victim received a phone call from a male on the 30th of April 2011, identifying himself as a Bell Canada employee. The victim was offered a free cell phone or three months free cell phone service. The victim then provided personal information including their social insurance number. COE HILL – Power won’t be fully restored to Coe Hill until 1:45 p.m. Fri., April 29, 2011, Hydro One says. The power company’s website has a map showing hundreds of power outages in southern Ontario.  About 20 customers are without power in Coe Hill.   As of noon, the outage map expanded to include about 500 Hydro customers  west and south of the village. There’s hundreds of people expected to be without without power until late afternoon in Bancroft, Aplsey and Gilmour areas. COE HILL – Ice was out of Wollaston Lake as of the Easter weekend, April 22-25, 2011.
