Private Charles Nelson Kelsh born in Coe Hill, died Aug. 25, 1918 during the First World War in France. He was 23 and a member of the 21st Bn., Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment). He was the son of Private Charles Nelson Kelsh born in Coe Hill, according information posted at the Canadian Great War project. Kelsh was buried at Dainville British Cemetery in France.
Brent Goodwin sent along these before and after photos of the old white church at the west end of the village. It was demolished Feb. 13. Brent said it was a church into the 1950s, but had no other information. He knows of no plans to rebuild anything on the site. If you know any history of the building, or plans for the site, please reply to this posting with the info.
