COE HILL – About 5,000 people were without power in the Coe Hill, Bancroft and Denbigh areas Oct. 20, 2011. The Hydro One storm centre web page shows power outages across eastern Ontario, but the biggest appear to be in the northern Hastings County. As of 8:45 a.m., power is expected to be back on in Coe Hill and Bancroft by 9 a.m., and by 9:45 a.m. in Denbigh. No cause for the power outage was given.

COE HILL – The first hunt of the new elk population is underway across the Bancroft district. There are 70 hunters with licences to take one of the elk that were re-introduced to the area a decade ago.  The hunt runs Sept. 19 through Sept 25, 2011.
