PEMBROKE, ON – The Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) is one of 13 Regional Tourism Organizations created by the Ontario government to carry out initiatives that increase tourism to Ontario. We were able to raise just over $5,100 last year for the fire department, and would love to surpass that mark this year. COE HILL — Most power  seems to have been restored to the Coe Hill and Apsley areas as of 5:30 p.m. Sat., March 3, but hundreds of homes may not have electricity until Sunday afternoon, Hydro One says. Around 8,000 homes and businesses in the area south and southwest of Bancroft lost power overnight Friday into Saturday, as a windy winter storm swept through the area. COE HILL — Hydro One says almost 8,000 homes and businesses are without power after a windy winter storm rolled through eastern Ontario overnight March 2 to March 3, 2012. As of 1 p.m., power was still out to the wide area of northern Hastings County and the northeast corner of Peterborough County, according to the Hydro One online power outage map. Ontario Provincial Police press release BANCROFT – On Sat. Feb. 4, 2012, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Wollaston Township Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire on Township Road 620 in Wollaston Township. The house was vacant at the time of the fire. The Bancroft OPP and Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office were involved with the investigation. Ministry of Natural Resources press release March 1, 2011 PETERBOROUGH – An Asphodel-Norwood man has been fined a total of $2500 for a number of deer hunting offences. After pleading guilty to all charges, George Christopoulos was fined $1,000 for unlawfully hunting an antlerless deer without a licence, $500 for unlawfully attaching a game seal to an antlerless deer, and $1000 for unlawfully possessing illegally killed wildlife.
