Ontario Provincial Police press release NORTH KAWARTHA Twp – On Saturday June 25, 2011 at approximately 11:07 a.m. provincial police responded to a Sexual Assault involving a child at the public washrooms on Burleigh Street in Apsley. As a result of the investigation, the suspect, a 19 year old Belmont Twp man was arrested immediately without incident and has been charged for Sexual Assault and Forcible Confinement. COE HILL – Power outages continue in the Coe Hill area after storms rolled through the area June 8, 2011. Coe Hill School public school is closed today, the Hastings-Prince Edward school board says. School buses are cancelled to the school and the board advises parent to keep children home from school.  Employees are told to report to their nearest school for the day. COE HILL – Hydro One reports widespread power outages in the Coe Hill area, with some areas east of the village not expected to have electricity restored until 4 p.m. June 10, 2011. The Hydro One StormCentre web page lists multiple power outages in eastern Ontario, from causes including tree branches falling on main power lines in the Apsley and Limerick Lake areas. COE HILL  — The pastoral charge of St. Ola, St. Andrews Coe Hill, and Zion The Ridge United churches has begun working to create a “100-mile dinner event”  in early September. A 100-mile dinner is a spin-off from the popular Canadian book  The 100-Mile Diet, promoting eating locally produced food. Source:  Ontario Provincial Police press release As the planting season has arrived, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) is pro-actively warning Ontario residents and visitors of the dangers associated with marijuana grow-ops. In 2010, OPP DEU and its partners investigated 586 indoor and outdoor marijuana grows, destroying 218,168 marijuana plants in various areas of the province. Another 2,190 kilograms of dried marijuana was confiscated, bringing the total value of seized marijuana to 258-million dollars. Provincial Police responded to an anonymous report of a Disturbance on Wellington Street in Apsley. Officers conducted patrols of the Village and located Hate Crime graffiti spray painted on Apsley Public School and a vehicle parked at a residence on Burleigh Street.
