APSLEY – On Saturday July 18, 2009 officers responded to a Domestic complaint at a Burleigh Street residence.
The victim told officers, her common-law spouse began arguing with her when she returned home from work. He followed her into the bedroom where he grabbed her right arm ripping the sleeve of her shirt and pushed her backwards onto the bed.
The victim was able to kick free and attempted to leave the home, when her spouse picked up a fish bowl and smashed it onto the floor.
The accused then threatened to kill the victim’s cat, which she retrieved prior to leaving.
The accused, a 40 year old North Kawartha Twp., man has been charged with Assault, Mischief and Threatening to Kill an Animal.
He was scheduled to appear at the Provincial Courts in Peterborough on Monday July 20 2009 for a Bail Hearing.
The name of the accused cannot be released to protect the identity of the victim.
