ORMSBY — On the 19th of August 2009 members of the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, Tactics Response Unit, OPP K9 and Drug Enforcement Section executed a warrant at a Coe Hill area address south of Bancroft.
As a result of this warrant a female was taken into custody and 2 males fled the scene south on the Old Hastings Road on foot. A K9 track was initiated with the assistance of the Tactics Response Unit and OPP Aviation services with negative results.
A search of the property revealed over 1100 marihuana plants and a stolen ATV. The estimated street value of the plants is over a million dollars.
WANTED is 26 Year Old Bernard RAINFORD last seen wearing a black long sleeved shirt and blue jeans described as being 6 foot , 200 lbs from the Markham area for charges under the controlled drugs and substances act and criminal code.
Information about a second male is being sought in relation to the incident. The second male only known as “SHOVEL” is described as being in his 20’s , 5’10, wearing a light blue t shirt and beige shorts. If anyone knows anything about these individuals is asked to contact the Bancroft OPP at 613-332-2112.
The “Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit” (P.W.E.U.) is a Joint Forces Unit under the direction of the Ontario Provincial Police. Membership is comprised of most of the “major” municipal police services, the O.P.P., R.C.M.P. and Canada Customs. P.W.E.U. is an investigative unit also offering assistance to all law enforcement agencies in firearms investigations.
