Moose on the loose hit by car on Hwy 28 south of Apsley

opp-logoNORTH KAWARTHA TWP– On Friday August 21, 2009 at approximately 9:50 P.M. police responded to a vehicle/moose collision on Highway 28 north of Woodview.

The driver told police that he was on his way to his cottage when a moose bolted from the east side of the road. He struck the animal as it crossed the highway in front of him.

Neither he, nor his passenger, had been injured but the vehicle, a Chevy Yukon SUV, had to be towed from the scene.

The moose had run off into the bush and was not located.
