Ottawa gives Bancroft $2.4M for study of construction projects

Government of Canada invests in Bancroft to stimulate local economy

BELLEVILLE (Sept 6, 2009) – Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) ), today announced funding for the Corporation of the Town of Bancroft.

To address the immediate and long-term needs of communities in Southern Ontario, Prime Minister Stephen Harper launched the Community Adjustment Fund and created the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, or FedDev Ontario.

The Corporation of the Town of Bancroft will receive $2,442,750 to complete a feasibility study required for future infrastructure considerations.

It is one of 90 projects the Government of Canada is announcing worth a total of federal investments of up to $102 million.

“These investments will create immediate employment opportunities and support local economies in communities throughout Southern Ontario”, said Mr. Kramp. “I look forward to working with Mayor Churchill and other key stakeholders in our area on ways to create jobs and strengthen the economy.”
