Coe Hill remembers veterans from wars past and present during 2009 Warriors Day Weekend events

COE HILL — About 300 people gathered at the Coe Hill fairgrounds Sunday, for a Warriors Day memorial service.

Nine local soldiers who recently returned from service in Afghanistan were part of the half-hour ceremony, which followed a parade of historic and current military vehicles through the village.

Wollaston Reeve Dan McCaw presented Tweed Reeve Jo-Anne Albert with a special award, as a thanks for her work organizing a thank-you event for Canadian Troops passing through her town. Every one gets a Tim Hortons coffee and a doughnut.
