Driver charged after two-car crash on Hwy 62 north of Bancroft on Friday

Male Charged with Dangerous Operation

opp-logoBANCROFT — On Friday the 18th of September 2009 Officers from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 62 in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.

Investigation revealed that a Pontiac Grand Am was travelling south on Highway 62 and pulled into the oncoming lane to pass a vehicle.

The Grand Am forced an oncoming vehicle onto the east shoulder and then entered the southbound lane again. The Grand Am then pulled onto the west shoulder and struck the back of a Ford pickup truck and trailer that was travelling in front of him. The trailer flipped and came to a stop.

The Grand Am then entered the west ditch and struck a tree.

The driver of the Ford pickup, a 45 year old male of Bancroft, Ontario did not sustain any injuries.

The male driver of the Grand Am, 27 year old Chris Grinko of Etobicoke, Ontario was transported to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings with minor injuries.

Mr. Grinko has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on the 20th of October 2009.
