LIMERICK TOWNSHIP – Provincial police have been looking in ditches and swamps alongside Highway 62 this week, apparently looking for a weapon in the a Sept. 19, 2009 murder north of Bandcroft.

Two men were arrested in Quebec a few days later. They have been charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of 26-year-old single mother Steffany Natasha Gardiner. Her body was found Saturday along the lake north of Bancroft.

Brent Goodwin reports watching officers involved in the search this week disappearing from view into the bullrushes in wet areas along the highway, between Switzer’s Auction Centre and old Highway 620 to Coe Hill.

The search continued into Wednesday afternoon, as light rain fell.
