Watch for suspicious people around your house, OPP says


Peterborough County OPP recommends that the public be aware of suspicious activity that may result in daylight break and enters occurring throughout the County of Peterborough.

A common method of operation used by thieves is to approach a home, knock on the door and if answered, request directions, fictitious neighbour or delivery address information, and then go on their way.

If no one answers, thieves then check all possible points of entry to determine whether the home’s doors or windows are unlocked and if it can be entered out of the sight and hearing by neighbours and passers-by.

Homes that are secluded or ones that have no clear view from neighbouring residences are most susceptible.

The public should notify police of anyone acting in a suspicious manner with a brief description of the suspect and, if possible, the vehicle involved, including its licence plate.
