Driver charged for unmarked smokes at Marmora RIDE stop

MARMORA – On March 15 members of the Central Hastings detachment conducted a RIDE program on County Road 14, south of Marmora.

Just before noon a search of a northbound vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 150 unmarked cigarettes in a Ziploc bag, a police press release says.

The driver, a 48 year old Stirling man, will appear in Belleville court mid June charged with possession of unmarked tobacco, under the Tobacco Tax Act.

Peterborough County OPP officers were out Tuesday March 16 during daylight hours, running impaired driving checks on County Road 504 in North Kawartha Township.

A provincial police press release reports 45 vehicles were checked resulting in 2 drivers being issued Provincial Offence Notices but no alcohol related driving infractions were found.
