More telephone scams reported in Centre Hastings: OPP

MADOC — Police are continuing to receive reports from residents in the Central Hastings detachment area who are being contacted by persons claiming to work for Bell.

The caller asks for personal information, including their date of birth and social insurance numbers. They are then promised a free cell phone as a prize.

Residents also report telephone calls from persons claiming to work for alarm and security companies. The caller is aggressive and claims the person has won an alarm system for their residence.

Please do not provide any personal information over the telephone or internet. Verify with your service provider if the call is legitimate. Report any scams to Phonebusters @ 1-(888) 495-8501 or email info@phonebusters.com.
