Police recover all five guns stolen near Madoc (photo)

MADOC — Police have recovered all five guns, ammunition, a crossbow, tools and an all-terrain vehicle stolen from a Keller’s Bridge Road home the weekend of April 24-25, 2010.

Local officers, with help from the organized crime enforcement – provincial weapons enforcement unit aided in the investigation, a Central Hastings OPP press release says.

One of the rifles, compound bow, ammunition, and power tools were located in a wooded area off of Stony Settlement Road, Millbridge.

Jewellery and hunting accessories were recovered from a Keller’s Bridge Road property.

Further investigation led officers to a residence on Elgin Street, Madoc, where a shotgun was found  buried in the backyard.

Thursday, police divers searched White Lake, south of Madoc, and found the remaining three firearms and ammunition.

The ATV was found on a trail near the lake.

The investigation is continuing, police say.
