Motorcyclist dead after crash on Highway 28 near Apsley

UPDATE: The driver of the black 2007 Yamaha V-Max involved in the fatal motor vehicle collision has been identified as ANDREW CLIFTON HORNER age 48 years of Clarendon, Quebec.

The investigation is continuing and a Post Mortem has been scheduled for Monday May 17, 2010.

NORTH KAWARTHA Twp., ON – On Saturday May 15, 2010 at approximately 11:44 A.M. members of North Kawartha Fire Department, Peterborough County Ambulance, Bancroft OPP and Peterborough County OPP responded to a serious Motor Vehicle Collision on Highway 28 at Eel’s Lake Road.

A southbound black Yamaha V-Max motorcycle had collided with a Toyota Fore Runner that had been turning left onto Eel’s Lake Road.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 49 year old male from Clarendon, Quebec was pronounced dead at the scene. His name won’t be released until relatives are notified.

The second driver, PAUL GILLIS, age 50 years of Pickering , was shaken up but not injured.

Highway 28 in both directions was closed to facilitate the investigation but was reopened at 4:50 P.M.

The police investigation is continuing and speed is considered a factor.
