Man charged after baby dies in Marmora

MARMORA, ON – The investigation into the death of an infant at a Marmora residence on June 10 has resulted in a charge of Criminal Negligence Causing Death.

The Central Hastings detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police along with paramedics and the fire department responded to a Williams Street address early Thursday morning, June 10.

A five week old baby was transported to hospital where attempts to revive the infant were unsuccessful.

Nicholas BAILEY, 18 years old, of Marmora appeared in Belleville court today charged with one count of criminal negligence causing death. He was remanded in custody until June 17. A publication ban was imposed by the court.

OPP detectives from the Hastings County Crime Unit are continuing to investigate, with assistance from the Eastern Region Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford, Criminal Investigation Branch.
