FARADAY Twp – A Whitney man was badly hurt Wednesday in a crash on Highway 28 southwest of Bancroft, provincial police report.
On Wednesday the 30th of June 2010 Officers from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, the Faraday and Bancroft Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 28 in Faraday Township.
Investigation revealed that a Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling north on Highway 28, followed by a Jeep SUV, that was followed by a Toyota car.
The Toyota struck the rear of the Jeep causing it to enter the oncoming south bound lane. The Toyota continued north and then struck the rear of the Chevrolet pickup causing it to enter the oncoming south bound lane. The Toyota then crossed the oncoming lane and entered the ditch.
The driver of the Jeep, a 48 year old female of North Kawartha Township did not sustain any injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 77 year old male of Hastings Highlands and the passenger, a 74 year old female of Hastings Highlands did not sustain any injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 76 year old male of Whitney was transported by ambulance to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings with major injuries. He was later transported by air ambulance to Kingston General Hospital.
Investigation into the collision is ongoing.
