Cottagers catch thieves in the act near Apsley; one arrested

NORTH KAWARTHA Twp. — Cottagers caught two burglars red-handed Monday near Apsley, but one got away.

A man and woman were found stealing items inside the cottage on Fire Route 85E east of Apsley at about noon, Peterborough County OPP report.

Officers responded and arrested a the woman, who stayed inside the cottage. The male fled before officers arrived.

He is described as five feet, eight inches tall, very thin, wearing glasses, a button down plaid shirt and shorts.

The woman, 34, from Burlington, faces charges of break and enter, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
