Your faded rear licence plate might cost you $110

PETERBOUGH COUNTY –  Provincial police say they’ll be out looking for faded, damaged, obscured or altered rear licence plates on vehicles.

The extra enforcement results from complaints to the provincial Ministry of Transportation, which were forwarded provincial police.

Police recommend that drivers should obtain replacement licence plates through Service Ontario or local Ministry of Transport Licencing Centres.  Replacement costs start at $20.

The fine for having a faded, obscured or damaged rear licence plate is $110,  Peterborough County OPP report.

If the licence plate is altered or defaced, the places will be seized, the vehicle towed and a Provincial Offence Court Summons is issued to the owner and or driver.
