Stories wanted about Coe Hill’s $230,000 mystery money

COE HILL – Do you remember the Havelock Bank robbery of 1961, which ended in the mysterious disappearance of $230,000 south of Coe Hill?

If you have memories or stories of photos of the event, then a the 4th Line Theatre in Millbrook wants to hear from you.

Tues. Nov. 2, 2010, a “public reminiscence” of the robbery is planned for 7 p.m. in the Havelock branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The Aug. 31, 1961 robbery of the Toronto Dominion bank resulted in a police chase and running gunfight into the southwestern corner of Wollaston Township. 

The robbers were all found after a search by police and a local posse, but not the money.
