Passenger died in crash on Highway 28 near Bancroft

BANCROFT – A resident of  Stoney Creek died in a tw0-vehicle crash on Highway 28 east of Bancroft just before midnight Nov. 20, 2010.

Rescue workers and police were called at 11:45 p.m.,  Bancroft provincial police reported Nov. 22, 2010.

A red Dodge pickup truck was traveling west on Highway 28 and a black Subaru car was heading east on Highway 28. The Subaru entered the oncoming lane and struck the Dodge pickup.

The driver of the Dodge pickup, a 68 year old man from Bancroft,  received minor injuries.

The driver of the Subaru car, a 36 year old man from  Stoney Creek, Ont., near Hamilton, was transported by ambulance to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings in Bancroft.  He was later air lifted to Kingston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Subaru, Daniana Sima, 37, of Stoney Creek, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision and the investigation is ongoing, police report.
